Troubleshooting Tips For Dataone broadband

How do i check why i am not able to connect / Browse

  1. Check if any loose connectivity exists between the cables connected to your Modem or PC
  2. Check if all the Indicators on the modem are proper
  3. Check if the ADSL link is steady and glowing if not check if your telephone cable coming from splitter is not loose and your telephone is working.
  4. From your PC try pinging to the gateway (ping -t 192.168.1.1 )
  5. If you get Request timed Out Try pinging to your network card's IP ;If request timed out then you need to check your LAN card.
  6. If you are connected via USB try uninstalling and reinstalling USB driver.

I still cant ping to 192.168.1.1

Try manually resetting your modem.

(Behind the modem there is small reset hole which you can use to reset your modem.Take a ball point pen or any pointed device which you can insert in this reset hole and keet it pressed for about half a minute when modem is powered on when all the other indicators except the Power go off release )

switch off your modem and switch on and try pinging

Open Internet Explorer and in the Address Bar type  http://192.168.1.1 you will be prompted for Username and Password

I am not prompted for username and password

Internet Explorer version should be 5.5 or above

Check if the cookies are enabled.

Open Internet explorer --> Click on Tools --> Click on Internet options --> Click on privacy--> Click on Advanced --> Select Override Automatic Cookie Handling

Click OK

Click on Tools --> Internet Options --> Click on Connections -->

Select Never Dial a connection --> Click on Lan Settings -->

Uncheck Use Automatic configuration Script

Uncheck Use a Proxy server for your LAN

Click OK

If you are able to ping 192.168.1.1 but not able to browse

check if you are connected by pinging the DNS nos.

If not then go to http://192.168.1.1 and check the status of your connection

For Type I Modem - The status of PVC0 should be Green on the summary page

If red re-enter username and password and apply

For Type II Modem - Click on status --> Connection Status -->And check if the status is shown Connected or not Connected

If not connected re-enter your username and Password and apply .

For Type III & Type IV Modem If connected the PPPoE will show green Tick Mark.

I am Connected and also able to ping the DNS nos. But cannot browse.

Check if your have installed firewall or any such program after installation of which you have started facing this problem.

If so disable the Firewall software/ Application that you have installed and try browsing.

Check for any trojan / viruses as these will also result in slow browsing or no browsing.

Note: Switch off your Modem when not in use

If your PC & Modem is kept forever ON there may be programs on your PC which will try to download /Upload some data due to which your download / upload limit might get exhausted.
